This compendium is part of the project „Integrating Bulgaria-Greece cross-border significance historical and archeological assets into one sustainable thematic tourist destination”, financed by the European Regional Development Fund and by national funds of the countries participating in the INTERREG V-A “Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020”
Cooperation Programme.

The overall objective of the project is the practical and mental preservation and rehabilitation of cross-border significance archeological and cultural assets in order to be designed and developed one sustainable cross-border tourist thematic destination. All actions are orientated towards the development of an approach which will contribute on managing and integrating cultural assets in the regions of Amphipoli and Blagoevgrad.

About Balkan Forum

Promoting the necessary actions for the introduction and successful use of business innovation is a key prerequisite for the economic development and promotion of healthy entrepreneurship both in Greece and in the rest of the Balkans.

With this in mind, in the context of strengthening Transnational Cooperation, the Ministry of Interior (Sector Macedonia – Thrace), in co-operation with the Managing Authority of European Territorial Cooperation Programmes (Interreg), took the initiative of organizing the 2nd Balkan Forum with key objectives:

  • Evaluating the existing business and technology inventory as well as identifying specific needs and shortcomings.
  • Bridging the gap between research and market.
  • Exploring the possibilities of developing business and technological networking and synergies in order to make the best use of the existing potential at the Balkan level.
  • Incorporating innovative proposals, either technological (process innovation, product or service innovation) or non-technological (eg management innovation, sales innovation) through the presentation of good practices.
  • The transition and consolidation of a greener economy, since environmental protection is an essential condition for sustainable development.
  • The promotion of sustainable development programmes, partnerships and networks in the Balkans during the programmatic period 2021 – 2027 of the EU funds.

The Forum consists of representatives of agencies from the Balkan countries (Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Albania, Republic of North Macedonia).

The study for tourist development of the greater area of Amphipolis/Investigation and analysis of the available financial tools

In the framework of WP4 of the BORDERLESS CULTURE project, Partner Beneficiary No6 (Region of Central Macedonia) prepared and developed Deliverable D4.6.2: “Investigation and Analysis of Financial tools”, which consisted of the following two (2) Deliverables (in Greek)

  • Deliverable 2.1: ‘CULTURAL & TOURISM DEVELOPMENT STUDY’ 
  • Deliverable 2.2.: ‘ACTION PLAN-SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES’

More specifically, the above mentioned Deliverables include the Development of an Action Plan for the boosting and the cultural & tourist development of the Region of Central Macedonia, with Amphipolis area at its center.

The Action Plan has identified & proposed relevant Priority Axes/Intervention Fields/Actions-Projects taking into account all available Financial Tools (e.g. ESPA, Interreg, etc.) in the Programming period.

In the framework of the Deliverables, Specific relevant Projects have also been identified, budgeted and proposed to be financed.
